‘Travel makes one modest. You see what a tiny place you occupy in the world.’
— Gustave Flaubert

The three images above were the only entries in the Gallery of World Cruise One. (The middle picture shows my ‘tools’ on my first European jaunt, in 1969.) I was so busy writing a blog post every day, I didn’t keep up with the Gallery. But this time, I plan to archive favorites from this voyage. For some of you this first batch is a rehash of a rehash, but I do have some new readers who haven’t been on board as long as the rest of you! These are favorites...

Muslim woman walking towards the magnificent Treasury at Petra, in Jordan. | Here’s a bunch of gawping Caucasians on a tour bus squeezing its way through the tiny streets of some tiny village outside Semerang, Java, en route to our horseback trek to mountain-top temples. I doubt they see very many tourists. And this friendly woman makes eye contact and waves and smiles. She knows she won’t sell me any of her vegetables. She’s just being friendly. I wave and smile back. | The snake fruit vendor in the same little village. We weren’t in the market for snake fruit, but she was gracious with all the camera-toting tourists. |

Shanghai selfie: The Viking Sun after its christening event. | Crossing the Equator for the first time required a fish kiss. | At the pool, in Antigua, Guatemala. |
