Not so Well-ington (NZ)

In the Norwood Rose Garden within the Wellington Botanical Garden. The roses at Fuller Garden in Rye, NH, are just as good. Some have called Wellington ‘the coolest little capital in the world’ and it was cool, in the mid-60s this morning, but other than that, I thought Auckland was a lot cooler as a place to visit or live. So there are only a few snapshots. Pricey little houses across the harbor from downtown, stacked up the hill. Several have their garages at sea level and their houses way above — connected by a little track with a cart on it that will transport goods and I guess even people UP the hill!

These houses, with great views of the city, run around $1MM NZ or about $650K U.S.

The view back towards the city from atop Mount Victoria.

And a couple skyscrapers. I learned from our Captain that ‘skyscraper’ started as a nautical term for a tall sail on a tall ship. #
