Brown Boobies

Can’t see any in the photo, but the ship was accompanied for hours yesterday by a flock of diving seabirds. The onboard naturalist confirmed they are Brown Boobies, and a couple of them, he claims, were Red-footed.

Christmas dinner in The Restaurant with new friends Meredith ad Linda. Meredith was very smart: she asked for a table large enough for the three of us plus two or three open spaces for others to join us. We were joined by Mike and Pat: He’s a retired airline pilot, she’s a licensed PI, as in Private Investigator. They’ve lived all over, including three years in Libya — of all places.

Can you guess what my starter was? It’s melt-in-your-mouth Blackened Ostrich Carpaccio, and the first in the Håper det Smaker category: ‘Bon Appétit’ in Norwegian.

The Christmas entertainment in the 500-seat theatre included all the onboard entertainers and our Cruise Director, Heather, who ended the show with an over-the-top ‘O Holy Night.’ All a bit gaudy but, hey, it’s a cruise line.
