Buenos Aires, parte 1: Pampas y Gauchos!

Our host, the owner of La Mimosa, a cattle ranch (since 1869) located about 2 hours outside of Buenos Aires. A gracious hacienda, with verandas and very tall ceilings to promote buenos aires.

These three gauchos, above, put on a riding exhibition. After lunch of MEAT MEAT MEAT, two gauchos and two ‘chinas’ (young ladies, pronounced chee´-nahs) danced and ohhhhh, how they danced! He’s wearing one of the traditional ‘cowboy’ outfits.

‘A tango, it is said, is a Greek tragedy in three minutes.’

— Conde Nast Traveler

That night, back on the ship, we enjoyed a Tango Revue. Who knew that tango could be this athletic and gymnastic? I was seated way in the back so this was all I could get.

This last picture is from our Viking Daily broadsheet..... the dancers did that, too, but it was the phenomenal athleticism of the dancers, especially the women, that amazed me. Olé! #
